The Vessels

Mixed Materials, Urethane — 2014

About the Work

"They are like little vessels…" — The Vessels (2014) is a mixed-material sculpture exploring numerically controlled manufacture and tooling. The work investigates how variable parts can be assembled into novel objects, blurring the line between industrial process and handcrafted form.

Concept & Process

Employing numerically controlled fabrication techniques, The Vessels examines the relationship between digital tooling and physical assembly. Variable parts are produced through precise machine processes, then combined into unique configurations — each vessel a distinct outcome emerging from a shared parametric logic. The urethane material lends a tactile, almost organic quality to forms born from computational precision.
